Resumen
El presente artículo tiene como principal objetivo justificar sistemáticamente la importancia que posee la “memoria histórica” –en tanto recurso historiográfico– para la reconstrucción de la historia de los movimientos sociopolíticos populares durante el período de la Unidad Popular. Para el cumplimiento de tal propósito, serán considerados los aportes de diversos historiadores que han profundizado –y debatido– sobre la potencialidad de esta fuente histórica, articulando estas contribuciones a una sistematización que integra los siguientes criterios analíticos: significado, características, y función/funcionalidad. Con esta propuesta se pretende posicionar científicamente a la “memoria historia” en el necesario proceso contrahegemónico de reconstrucción del pasado de las clases subalternas en nuestro país, especialmente, sus experiencias de movilización social y política durante la “vía chilena de transición al socialismo”.

Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to justify systematically the importance that the ''historical memory'' has – among historiographic resources– for the reconstruction of the history of popular socio-politic movements during the ''Unidad Popular'' period. In order to achieve the purpose, it will be considered several historians' contributions, who have gone further in –and discused– the potential of this historical source, articulating these contributions to a systematization which integrates the following analytic criteria: meaning, characteristics, and function/functionality. Through this proposal, it is expected to set scientifically the ''historical memory'' in the necessary counter-hegemonic process of reconstruction of the past subaltern classes in our country, specifically their experiences in social and political movements during the ''Chilean way of transition to socialism''.
